Strengthening the Community

For Fight For Right, strengthening the community means, first and foremost, amplifying the voices of persons with disabilities in decision-making at every level in Ukraine. That is why we share knowledge and opportunities, develop educational courses, conduct trainings and retreats, and disseminate effective project models and practical resources that help improve accessibility across all areas of life and expand the network of essential services.

We are already seeing how leadership training and our support for initiatives led by girls and women with disabilities and women veterans across different regions of Ukraine are transforming Ukrainian society. Fight For Right’s support often encourages women activists to establish their own civil society organizations, strengthen their local communities, make them more accessible, and accelerate meaningful, high-quality change.

Leadership of Women with Disabilities During Wartime

The Fight For Right team has been collecting stories of leadership, strength, and resilience from girls and women with disabilities since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Our goal is to preserve their experiences and show the world their contributions and resilience.

The stories of these women demonstrate their commitment to Ukraine’s independence through their daily work in civil society, volunteering, service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other areas. The activism of girls and women with disabilities is already helping transform public perceptions of disability and challenge harmful stereotypes.
