Impact on Public Policy
The Fight For Right team closely monitors policymaking and state-building processes in Ukraine to ensure that the interests of persons with disabilities are taken into account and that their rights are protected at the national level. Our advocacy specialists regularly contribute to the development and analysis of legislation, government strategies, and public policies, particularly in the areas of independent living, employment of persons with disabilities, and an inclusive European integration process.
Fight For Right was a co-initiator of the Deinstitutionalization Strategy, contributed to the development of the National Accessibility Strategy, and continues to work on the National Human Rights Strategy. The Chair of Fight For Right is a member of the Accessibility Council under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Our advocacy specialists also actively participate in the Accessibility Platform under the auspices of the Presidential Commissioner for Accessibility.
We continue to advance the accessibility of electoral processes, work closely with the Central Election Commission, and adapt international best practices to the Ukrainian context.
We do more than assess public policies and identify provisions that conflict with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. We also propose constructive solutions, advocate for essential reforms, and provide government institutions with our expertise.
