Leadership of Women with Disabilities in Communities
Fight For Right prioritizes initiatives developed and implemented by women with disabilities for women with disabilities. Strengthening the activist movement at the local level contributes to broader change across Ukraine. That is why Fight For Right provides grant support for community-based projects throughout the country.
With this grant funding, women with disabilities and disability rights activists have implemented more than 20 initiatives. Before launching their projects, many participants attended training camps in the Carpathian Mountains. Mentorship support for subgrantees was a key factor in the successful implementation of these initiatives.
Many of the initiatives supported by Fight For Right ultimately grew into new organizations of persons with disabilities.
We also work to increase the visibility of women with disabilities in society. To achieve this, we publish informational materials and short films and collaborate with prominent media outlets and influencers. We also developed and presented the “Be Your Own Goal” photo exhibition at various venues. The exhibition highlights the unique stories of women with disabilities, including their military experience, volunteer work, civic activism, achievements in sports and the arts, and support for others.
The photo exhibition is a testament to the visibility of women with disabilities and their equal contribution to the fight for Ukraine’s independence.
